I'm planning a trip on US Airways with a stop in Phoenix. Is flying US Airways really terrible?
I'm planning to fly one way from Burbank,CA to Milwaukee on US Airways. First I would be flying from Burbank to Phoenix and then I would have to change plans to get to Milwaukee. US Airways uses an Airbus 320 for both flights. Many people say that US Airways is a screwy airline with poor customer service. On this flight does anyone know if any food or snacks is served? Another option I'm considering is flyinh Southwest from Burbank to Las Vegas and then flying Midwest Airlines from Las Vegas to Milwaukee.

My Dad flies all over the world monthly and he told me the one airline he would never fly again is US Airways. He says their customer service is terrible and he actually called the airline to complain after one particular flight. And my dad's not that picky. If he hates an airline this badly, I'd steer clear of it. I'll never forget how angry he was after that flight. I don't think any food is served but if there is, it'll be trail mix or peanuts at the most.

Hi there. I flew US Airways last November (Thanksgiving) from L.A. to Philadelphia. I flew non-stop both ways. It costs more, but was so worth it to me! I wanted to get there as fast as I could, cause I had limited time to spend visiting back east with my friends, and knew that I would be tired going home, and would want to get home as fast as I could. Yes, the planes were very crowded, but it was Thanksgiving Day...a bad day on any flight to fly! Get there early for check-in...just like they say!!! They did run out of the food that you can purchase on both flights. So, MAKE SURE YOU EAT SOMETHING beforehand! Free peanuts just don't cut it! They will give you the free peanuts and a soft drink or water. Yes, the customer service was very poor. You can get a burger or breakfast at the airport once you pass thru security. I definately would suggest that! There's usually a fast food type restaurant there at the airport. It's more expensive than normal, but worth it! Try to get an aisle seat if you're the type that likes to walk around, or uses the restroom frequently. I took a window seat next to 2 people that slept. And then I felt guilty waking them when I needed to get up to crawl over them! I tried waiting till they sighed...hoping I could see one eye open, and then I would know they were awake! I followed all the rules about the size and weight of the carry on luggage, but found that most people didn't...and the airline didn't seem to care! That blew me away! Flying nowadays is just such a huge hassle...period!!! No matter what airline! But non-stop is the way to go! I flew to see an old boyfriend that I was still in love with at his invite. So my flight out was exhilerating! He dumped me while I was there, so it was hell coming home! But I survived! Good luck with your trip!

US airways is a cheap airline, i've heard nothing but bad things about it. i dont know if you would consider it. but i found there is a direct flight from burbank to Madison ( MSN) dane country regional airport with American Airlines. you could then drive from there to milwaukee, or possibly take an inter city bus.

I fly almost 100 times a year and almost half of that is on USAirways. They've improved greatly over the past 2 or 3 years. They're gone from a below average to an above average airline now... not the best but pretty good. I've never had my luggage lost on them, never had any significant delays on them and they've been very pleasant. (One time I had a flight into Boston and it was diverted into Manchester, NH due to a 2-3 foot snowstorm in the Boston area - obviously not the airline's fault. They couldn't get us home until the next morning - they researched all options including chartering buses - so they quickly put us up in a hotel, and flew us back to Boston at 9am the next morning. The entire time they were giving us information, food vouchers, etc... and being very apologetic even though it wasn't their fault. I thought they handled the situation extremely well). Other than that, I've had very good service with them. In full disclosure, I fly USAirways enough that I have several hundred thousand frequent flier miles and elite status with them, so they might be inclined to treat me better... I do get free upgrades to first class. Also.... in my opinion Phoenix is also a good hub airport. And USAirways is better than Southwest Airlines.

If you have to go to Vegas. Jet Blue. US Air is thumbs down. I took a short flight should have been 1 hour, 7 hours later we were finally aloud to board. I could have walked, next time I will. It took my 9 hours for a 1 hour flight. Driving in rush hour traffic is only 5 hours. Never again. No matter how much it cost. About food you should get a soda or water, maybe chips. Call the airlines they will tell you.
